A Brief Introduction of Guangdong Zhaoqing Middle School
laceName>GuangdonglaceName> laceName>Zhaoqing Middle School is a provincial key middle school, which has a long history and has made outstanding achievements in education. Our school was established in November 1905 and it has been called “The Best Middle School of the Xijiang Area”. At present, the school is divided into two campuses. The junior one is located in the north of the ancient town built in Song Dynasty, which lies in the center of the famous historic and cultural city-Zhaoqing. The senior one is just situated outside the city, near the beautiful scenic Star Lake. Our campus covers 1, 45,335 square metres, with beautiful surroundings. It holds advanced teaching facilities, and satisfies the educational needs and requirements of the students. There are 40 teaching classes in Junior and 41 in senior, with about 4500 students and around 300 staff members. Among the teachers, there are two PT vonlunteers from Britain.
The school possesses well qualified teaching staff, has had great successes and made substantial achievements in the teaching work. Benefiting from its excellent school spirit, excellent teaching quality and excellent environment, the school has highly been praised by the public. The school was first chosen as one of the first-class middle schools in the province 1994 and it is also given the titles of the national school for modern teaching-tech experiment and traditional items of physical education. About 30,000 excellent students graduated from our school, many of whom have become experts, scholars, political leaders and literatual celebrities.
In the past decade we have got excellent results in teaching and research activities, moral education, subjects competitions and sports matches. Four our students were chosen to take part in the Olympic training teams of mathematic and information (computer science), among them,Mr Weixiaoliang got the silver medal in the 9th international information Olympic of 1997 in South Africa. The school has been enjoying an enrollment ratio of over 95% in the college entrance exams, with Mr Shendongcai, one of our top graduates ranking first in Guangdong Province in both arts and science this year. What’s more, the students of our school have got dozens of medals in national and international sports competitions.
The school is enthusiastically promoting the education exchanges at home and abroad. We have friendly association and cooperation with the education departments or schools in Britain, the United States, Australia and in some cities at home, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and some districts, including Hong Kong and Taiwan. Six of our English teachers have been trained in Britain for 3 or 6 months. And about 15 foreign teachers or volunteers from Britain, America have been engaged to teach English in our school since the 1990s.
Now, the staff and the students are striving to exist on high teaching quality, to develop in harmony and to make the school into a national experimental high school.
